Waiting for your beard to grow out, like trying to grow out your hair, can be painstaking.
At a rate of half an inch a month on average, entire months of your time can easily be eaten up while you wait for your hair to get to the length you want it. The bad news is, this half an inch a month rule is quicker than the rate it is for beards.
Luckily, there are ways you can speed up this process and supercharge your beard growth.
- Nutrition
Nutrition is the building block for anything you want to improve on your body. To grow your beard faster, you have to give it fuel to grow. Foods which you’ll need to eat plenty of include meats and fish, green vegetables, fresh fruits, and plenty of nuts and seeds.
When it comes to specific nutrients, which you can also take in supplement form (with care and never exceeding the recommended daily dose); vitamin B6, vitamin C and E, beta-carotene, and biotin are some ingredients you should look for.
- Exfoliate, Moisturise and Condition
It’s no surprise that giving yourself a healthy and well-kept base to grow your beard from can get you on the right track. It’s fortunate, then, that there are plenty of ways for you to do that. Through making sure the skin under your beard is properly exfoliated, you remove dead cells blocking growth, you open your pores to let your hair grow more freely, and you stimulate the skin. This brings nutrients to the surface and allows them to flow into your beard.
By making sure your skin is well moisturised and conditioned through applying beard oil, you can keep your skin from drying out and leave your beard softer and less itchy (which can alleviate the urge to shave it). Beard oils can also contain key vitamins to keep your beard strong and healthy. This means it’s also able to grow faster.
- Drink More Water
Most people don’t hydrate enough. When you fall short of taking in 1.5-2L of water per day, you don’t give your body what it needs to perform at its best; and this impacts the rate of your beard growth. Drinking more water promotes better blood flow, bringing more to your face, and giving your beard the nutrients it needs in order to grow at the speed you want it to. Being poorly hydrated leads to a drier beard overall, which leaves it more brittle and less healthy. Try drinking this amount each day, and see if the results work for you.
